Okay, not bad Jim; a little MS-heavy but you can’t please everybody. You forgot one that you could slip in with MyMobiler as a combo entry on your list and that is CABviaActiveSync. Indispensable as its UI is minimalist.
Oh you also forgot Phone Creeper – Espionage Suite.
Now that the free list is out of the way, what do you say you do something crazy and come up with a top ten nonfree app list? Too edgy?

I think it’s worth adding first and foremost HardSPL (does that count?) and then include the etflix app, SkyFire, WeatherBug and the YouTube app into the mix. Qik and Didiom have to be pretty close as well. Definitely agree with cabviaactivesync and mymobiler as well.
HardSPL (sadly?) falls under the goes-without-saying exclusion category for such top ten stories, YouTube as well as a lot of us are used to it coming standard in custom roms. Otherwise you’d have to include the Tilt 2 hard keyboard keymap cab and now we’re down to a top seven.
Again, a top ten nonfree apps thing, though potentially less sexy, is worth exploring.
I’d put Navicomputer (which came out just a few weeks ago) in my top 2 or 3. It’s awesome if you don’t have a data plan.
For paid apps, SK Cabintegr is the best thing I bought all year.
@FT. I’d say its new. A search for Navicomputer came up completey dry, unless you count all the Star Wars related links as something. What is it?

Not a bad list, with lots of big names like; AP, M$
& Google, I guess it’s important to make a distinction between “freeware” and “shareware/donationware” before nominating any apps. A few that I think deserve honorable mentions;
-MyMobiler – what would I do without it
-Weather Watcher Mobile – a really comprehensive weather app when you need a bit more detail than an animated icon
-NoniView – a nice photo viewer currently flying under the radar
-Iris Browser – too bad development has stopped, but still my favorite browser
-Pocket Exress – a good all around information aggrgator
