Spb MobileShell Gets WM6.5 Icon Support
Spb released today a small update bringing the famed UI to v3.5.3. Included in this update is Windows Mobile 6.5 icons support. Although I’m not entirely sure what this means at the moment, it does however sound good. Due to my constant ROM flashing, I’m not able to test everything out. So I’m just reporting that there is an update.
Here is the official release:
Version 3.5.3 (Dec 29, 2009):
- OpenGL ES 2.0 support in SPB Carousel
- Windows Mobile 6.5 icons support
- Miscellaneous bug fixes and optimizations

The icon support just means that the icons render properly now – in 3.5.2 the contacts icon and several others only showed a white block for the shortcut.
I’m currently running this on one of NRG’s 6.5.3 builds, and after one registry tweak it’s working great! The tweak was to allow SPB Mobile to hid the start bar at the bottom of the screen. The registry tweak was awful to find, so if anyone needs it:
Remove “Manila” from the registry file:
HKCU\Software\E-Natives Technology\WM65xFix\WindowClasses\
Just be warned that the TouchFlo3D screen is a little off after this. But, if you’re hooked on SPB Mobile anyways, it doesn’t make a difference!
@Eddie thanks for the reg location, I’ll take a look at this before I flash my next ROM.. which will likely be tonight or tomorrow…

Does it support the COM3 builds yet?
