Prepare Now – Time is Running Out
So we’re all getting ready for the official AT&T Fuze Unboxing Day (AT&T FU Day for short). So let’s all get on the same page here and be ready with all of the new applications we need so when you open up your Fuze you can just install them in rapid fire. Some of these we’ve covered and some of these are new and these are all freeware/shareware:
But before we get started, print out the rebate form and just have it ready to go cause once you start playing with your Fuze you may get distracted for weeks.
I’m sure you want all of the tweaks you were use to with your Tilt plus the benefits of making changes to TouchFlo3D so make sure you have the latest version of Advanced Configuration Tool
Enabling the FM Tuner is a simple cab and the tv-out cab is there as well (but you’ll need to get your hands on the cable for that)
Vibra Switch will change a button to a volume/silence button and hopefully changing the PTT button to a silence button shouldn’t be too difficult out of the box
If you think this is good, check out more after the break!
Opera is great but don’t forget about having the latest version of Skyfire ready to go (when changing phones in the past I’ve been forced to go to their website and update the info there)
A few nice tweaks like increasing the call volume and giving an extra line of text on the SMS page are good to have prepared.
And since you have such a high quality screen you may as well change the application page layout to add a fourth column.
Slide2Unlock, the popular iPhone style system lock will work for the Fuze’s high resolution screen
To convert your volume up/down into a page up/down try AE Button Plus
In order to enable the accelerometer to always have the same orientation as the phone in all applications try Gyrator. It will also set up events based upon the stylus being inserted/removed and other neat tricks. You can also try GSen which is similar.
To lock and unlock your phone by ‘rolling’ it over in your hand check out Sensor Lock
If you need an alarm clock that you can shake try Klaxon’s Alarm Clock but if you need more of a challenge to get you going in the morning try G-Alarm which requires using the tilt sensor to get a ball through a maze to turn off the alarm
If you want to know if something is straight/level (isn’t that why you carry a cell phone?) you can try Bubble Level or Water Level.
If you’re convinced your accelerometer doesn’t know up from down then re-calibrate it with the G-Sensor Calibration Tool (just make sure you really have a level surface when doing it:) )
To turn your Fuze into a fancy air mouse for your computer (including use of the g-sensor) check out GRemote
And let’s not forget about all of the games (mostly from freewarepocketpc.net). Navigate through a cave in Caver. There’s Touchdown a (nope, not football) helicopter game. Roll dice with Dice Shaker. There’s an Asteroids type game called Sensory Overload and a space invaders version called G-Invaders. Get through a maze with SensorMaze or make new Teeter levels of your own. And just to do it, turn your Fuze into a Jedi light saber with HTC Light Saber.
And when you’re all done installing everything use the accelerometer to drink a beer.
Since these are freeware don’t hesitate to donate to the authors- they could use a beer as well:)
Don’t forget to go back through the apps you have and any you missed at Tiltmobiltiy.com and have them ready to go… good luck.

So I’m a little confused about the customization that can/should be done. Will Kaiser Tweek work? What about the HHC Home Customizer, or is that now irrelevant to the Fuze?
How about, and this may just be me, being able to re-map the “landscape mode” setting to a button like the PTT button?
Sometimes i like to have the keyboard closed and use my phone in landscape (atleast i did for the 3 weeks i had my tilt 2 weeks ago)… but i couldnt figure out how to map that setting to the PTT button… we’ll see

you dont need a button for landscape you just turn the phone and the sensor will turn it if you use gyrator 2
You generally don’t need a button to switch between portrait and landscape with the Fuze because of the accelerometer: it senses the orientation of the phone and automatically switches between landscape and portrait modes.
That only works in the native software with a couple of applications, however (Opera and the photo viewer). One of the applications mentioned above, Gyrator, makes that universal.
@SCDavis KaiserTweak should still work for some settings but the TouchFlo3D settings will not be altered by it. The Tilt was capable of running Manila2D but it is very different than the 3D version. So the regular tweaks should work since they are registry based but anything involving the Today screen wouldn’t work and it is missing the accelerometer tweaks. HHC Home Customizer is for the original version (which I almost called 1D but that’s not accurate) so it will not change the 3D version.
@brian/WM… that is true, good point… i’ll have to work on that…
I had manilla 2d on my tilt and liked it, and i’m sure i will love 3d and the first think that i’m going to add is the advanced configurator and speed some things up…
Then some fun *FREE* games… ’cause i’ll be poor after buying my fuze
Tuesday here i come… I’ll call the 2 stores near me tomorrow and see if i can get one, but not holding my breath… just hoping they get enough in stock for me to get one…

Skyfire doesn’t work (at least, not very well or reliably) on VGA displays. They are supposedly working on it, but there’s no estimate for when they might have a VGA-compatible version.
As an about-to-be Fuze owner and current Skyfire user, I’m eagerly awaiting that development. In the meantime, I just noticed a brand-new, untested (as of this writing) suggestion for making the Fuze temporarily emulate a QVGA device in a thread on the Skyfire forum: http://support.skyfire.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2754. If anyone gets a chance to try that on a Fuze, please report your results. Thanks!
