iPhoneToday 0.2b (iPhone Clone Today)

If you’ve been looking for an iPhone-like interface to use on your phone should check out iPhoneToday. iPhoneToday is a today plugin so it can be used with the regular plugins if you are using the standard Windows home screen instead of TF3D, like; date, lock, messaging, etc… The fact that it works with those is pretty sweet in itself. But using it as a full screen standalone user interface is also wonderful.

It has nice big icons, a working calendar icon, and working notifications (so the email icon tells you how many unread emails there are for example). Plus, adding or removing programs from the interface is as easy as editing an xml file (which you just change in notepad). The app itself is a fairly small program so  it should run fast and be easy on your battery.

I would definitely recommend this app to anyone that would like to have the iPhone look and keep the customability of the Windows Mobile platform. Be sure to visit the iPhoneToday 0.2b thread and to say thanks to MiToNiOeS.

In order to get the size of the icons right and the links right you do have to do a little bit of manual labor to change an xml file. Complete instructions are in the XDA thread but here are links to my cabs to install the app along with my edited icon and settings xml files preset for a VGA phone (Touch Pro, Diamond or Fuze). The xml file can be easily adjusted to work for a Tilt or any other resolution phone by following these instructions.

How do i get this on my htc fuze?

What I want someone to do is link this to the Programs Tab along the bottom slider to replace the current Programs screen. I use Showaco’s Fave screen, which is pretty good, but then you have to hit All Programs and are then inundated with an unorganized screen of programs.

Assuming that isn’t going to happen soon, how can I access it off of TF3D2?

Nicole – just isntall the cab linked in the posting
DRJim – I’ll see what I can do for you;)

DavidK, someone mentioned a workaround on the xda thread (4th page) by which you install MTP and then use that plug-in screen for the iPhone app, but didn’t offer any details.

But a simple link to the Programs tab would be awesome!

The inesteemable LCBoi found that you could have iPhone clone up by pressing the Programs tab on the bottom slider simply by choosing Programs as the target in the MTP Config.

No need for an extra tab (just uncheck it in Setting–Customize Tabs) and I would say it is better than Showaco’s Faves screen.

hi, thanks for test my program. if someone have problem or have suggestions, you can post in the xda thread and i will try to resolve your dudes…

@ drjim
would you mind explaining in more detail how you went about doing that?

@brian

Here’s what you do (with credit to LcBoi):

To use it with MTP you’ll have to go to the tab it creates and look at the Config my settings are: Target Page= Programs, Override tab height: is set to 455 on the items tab the only thing checked should be iPhone Today, hit apply, exit out, and restart manila.

To customize the pages in the “iPhone tab” you will need to edit the icons.xml with notepad (see configuration link on the iPhone Today xda-developers thread. Edit the settings.xml (through notepad) to have a height of 455 too.

MTP will create another tab no matter what, so you can just uncheck it in Settings–Customize Tabs .

Hope that helps.

I posted my iPhone Today-drjim on the iPhone Today forum under ROM and Customization for those who are interested.

FYI, the new MTP tab doesn’t appear in the Customize Tabs screen, so it can’t be removed. But it is at the end of the slide so it doesn’t really matter.
