In Call Screen Timeout SOLVED (Again)

sleep2 I know, it was only ten days ago that we posted that the in call screen timeout issue was solved(you know, the backlight turns off when you get on a call) . For those of you who read the comments you may have noticed a comment by Chris (chrisjaffe on XDA) about another solution to this issue. Chris’ cab gives us the traditional style of ‘no sleep’ meaning that when you get on a call the backlight stays on and after about a minute the backlight turns off but the screen remains on (but dimmed) at all times regardless of the angle or placement of the phone. The advantage of this method is that it works at all angles all the time (so you don’t need to turn your phone face up – you can be looking at it straight on). The disadvantage is that the screen is always on so you may accidentally hit a key when you put the phone to your face. I think in the end it’s all a personal preference, and fortunately we have options now:)

I’ve tried Chris’ solution for a few days now and it seems to be working flawlessly for me on a Fuze stock ROM (share your experiences on your ROMs though). If you install this application I would uninstall the StevePritchard and 600GOL (orientation based) application since they have different responses to the same parameters so you need to pick one:)

Chris’ application is located here and a backup is in our forums here. Remember to soft reset after an installation. Thanks again to Chris for providing this and to Da_G who provided some useful info for Chris to work with.

I’m going to install it, I hope I still have the auto rotation working.

So can I also uninstall FuzeMobilityNoSleepPart2 and FuzeMobilityStayAwake?

No other tweak has worked for me, so we’ll see.

drjim – you can uninstall those two – his contains those tweaks plus one other tweak.

D3TH – I have it enabled and auto rotation is still working – I am using the TP2 port

I’m one of those guys with big giant holes added to his head. (like I need extra holes in my head – hehe) I’ve got 6 gauge plugs in each ear and I couldn’t tell you how many times my ear jewelry acts as a STYLUS!!!! (wooden plugs).

While the screen is on during a call, I frequently ‘tap’ hold, speaker, mute, etc etc with my earlobes. So I particularly like the screen to turn off and stay off. I don’t care to use a headset when I can get away with it. It’s not too much trouble to switch the screen on during a call if needed. So for me, the screen turning off is more of a solution than a problem. :D

The comments I get from folks who are used to me inadvertently putting them on hold but know why it happens are always amusing.

Anyone else wear their stylus on their heads???

It’s usually more funny than a nuisance because I always think my phone is acting up due to whatever current ‘tweaks’, apps, etc. I’ve recently added/removed that I dread trouble shooting. Then I realize the piercings aren’t the only holes in my head!

Good info… thanks again FuzeMobilty.

hey DavidK…thanks to all for this application. I have one question of “turn to mute” feature…I installed it and it does not work for me. I followed all the tweaks in registery, installed the cab files and turn it upside down to mute the call, it does not respond at all. Any guidance ???

thanks

Shy – the first solution is oprobably best for you so whatever piercings you have won’t have an active screen – then the screen is off if the orientation is vertical…don’t scratch the screen though:)
vyapaar – the mute merely mutes the ringer. It does not mute an in place call so if you are getting a call just flip the phone over and it stops ringing…there’s an article I wrote for the site if you search for it, but it’s not an in-progress mute

Hey David…thanks for your response sir. sorry, I confused my question — was not thinking right — Face Down Mute is what is not working on my fuze. I made the registry changes and still does not seem to initiate. I need help with that.

sorry for the confusion bud.

vyapaar – you changed both registry files and soft reset?
make both ‘1′: HKLM-Software-HTC-HTCSensor-GSensor-Phonecallmute and HKLM-Software-HTC-Phone-facedownmute

Hello David. Yes bud, I have both setup at 1 and have soft reset several times since then…does not do anything. Curious now why it would not work on my phone.
