In Call Recording Enabled

ICR There was a leak a few weeks ago of a Touch HD ROM that had in call recording (ICR) enabled. This was a shock since ICR was supposed to be impossible due to hardware limitation (apparently not). In no time it was ripped from that ROM and ported to other Touch HD ROM’s and now Touch Pro users can use it as well. I have tested this on a Fuze with a stock ROM and I can confirm that it works. Once enabled, your dialer will have a new option in the menu (right soft key) to record calls (it becomes active once the call is in progress). You’ll hear a tone and it will record both sides of the conversation and does not require a headset to work. There is a standalone application that will also be added to your programs directory. You should change the settings there to record in wav for better quality and you may want to set it to save to your storage card.

So what do you need to do to get this to work? Just install this file, soft reset and you’re set.  I recommend installing this to your device (not storage card). This will install a fresh version of Slide to Answer as well. If you don’t like the loud beep when you start recording just follow these instructions. Once installed other apps like Resco and Vito recording software should work as well. A lot of members of XDA had a hand in this but I want to particularly thank tego and irus for packaging this for the Fuze.

Pease note that in some locations recording a call is illegal or requires consent of the other party. This site takes no responsibility for your use of this software and should ensure it is permissible to record a call based on your location and use.

FYI – The option remains in the menu but it does not record if you are using the windows dial pad. The installation will, however, switch you back to the HTC dial pad.

Sweet! Now I can record my wife to show her how she really sounds when she calls me in the middle of a hormonal rage due to being pregnant… she dosent believe that she gets like that. Now I can prove her wrong :p

This application totally nuked my phone. I am using NATF v4.1 ROM and after the install and soft reset, my phone froze and then re-flashed itself to the post ROM setup state.

Luckily I had recently done a Sprite Backup, so I just restored my phone back to its pre IRC.cab state. NATF users beware.

Armageddon – there are manual install instructions in the first XDA posting (instead of that file that is a consolidated one). Willing to try that? Sorry but I don’t have NATF – using stock still. Thanks

@Adam … been nice knowing you, fella.

will this work on tilt ?

me – it’s highly unlikely but I ahven’t seen anyone test it. The hardware is different and the phone dialers are different. I’m not sure if slidtoanswer will work. If you want to try it you’re better off folloing the XDA link and trying the application in the first posting there to see if that alone could even work. Then you could move on to bigger things:)

@ HHumbert – Thanks… and I really liked visiting this place too.

Adam…..You sure you wanna go down that road? Save it for a rainy day then let her listen…..Not while she is pregnant or your in for a world of hurt.

I was just going to put it on Youtube. :D

No but really… I wasnt going to record her.

Can ICR be installed and used without slide-2-answer? Understanding that installing it will install slide-2-answer, can I just install slide-2-answer and leave the ICR functionality?

Slade – I think that Slide2answer has a special dialer in it that enables ICR. The all in one cab I posted here has it enabled and I think it is required but i’m not certain. You can try going to the first posting at XDA and manually installing the components without slidetoanswer but I’m not sure it works. I actually really like slide2answer anyway though:) Far less people hear me walking now than before:)

Thanks for the quick reply. I have been using and am quite fond of Touch Pro Lock, but I may look further at Slide-2-Answer if I really want to have ICR.

I actually HAD this installed, but I uninstalled by accident trying to get rid of something else. Now when I try to install again, it’s saying “Installation was unsuccessful”.
Can someone help me to figure this out?

Thanks.

Anyone?

Xyon- can you try to uninstall it again and then try to reinstall it? There’s no reason why it wouldn’t install otherwise… you can try changing your dialer – install Herg’s Slide2Answer cab and then after a soft reset try ICR again (it sohuld overwrite S2A and put it on again). So maybe that will work.

Hey David,
I did what you suggested. Being that it was already uninstalled, I started with installing Herg’s S2A (that went well and looked great). Soft reset. Installed ICR (worked this time…thank you for that). Soft reset again. Then reinstalled Herg’s S2A. Soft reset yet again. S2A, again, great, but it deleted the ICR.
I’d really like to have both ICR and Herg’s S2A, and not the one that ICR installs.
What do you think? Is it possible, or do I have to choose?

So, nothing huh?
I’ve been reading posts about if ICR works well/at all with the new Leaked Test ROM for the Fuze.
I flashed to that new ROM and the TF3D2 port and I really like them both. If there is a way to have ICR only without the dailer that comes with it installed (and have it work) that could be great.

Does anyone have an idea? Because the posts on xda are for some reason confusing me.

Thanks guys,
~X
