HTC Weather Master 1.0.b1 Released!

Its always good to know what the weather is where you are, and if you’re like me, you may have had lightning-man-cellphone problems with WeatherDBEditor and depending on the install time of day you needed to install either version 1.1, 1.2 or 1.1 modified.  I could never figure out why I needed the different cabs especially when I never flashed my ROM and sometimes all I would do is change the theme and I couldn’t run the program that was installed or reinstall the same version, I’d have to switch to one of the other ones.  But still WeatherDBEditor is a GREAT program but JoeWilcox over at XDA has come out with a more user friendly version he calls “HTC Weather Master”.

Error message that my stock ATT Fuse.

“This application requires a newer version of Microsoft .Net Compact Framework than the version installed on this device”.

Where do I go for a “safe” version and how do I install it?

I really hope that this application will allow me at last to add my local cities into the database that HTC supplies but does allow modification.

Thanks for someone’s help.

Hey Jim,

You can follow the instructions here: http://www.ppcmobility.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1964#post1964 the .NET installation is straight from Microsoft. You download the exe and run it on your computer when your fuze is connected via activesync.

Good luck!

Thanks SCDavis.

I followed your instruction. I was able to install and load the program referred to in the article. The Weather tab shows my city in my state but it reports a “communications error” when attempting to load the weather info. “There was a connection error while attempting to download weather data. Retry?”..was the error.

Thanks again but still NO joy.

Jim

Hmm…

Can you go to http://www.accuweather.com and see if they cover your city/town. What is your city/town? I’ll give it a try…

Also do you have a data plan? are you in an area where you have service when you’re trying to update?

I still blame all connection errors on the hidden proxy. Go to Programs – Tools – Proxy and disable it and try again. AT&T hates when you use the internet…that’s the only reason I can think of that the proxy causes so many problems.

SCDavis…thanks for your help.

I have done so before but I went today to the accuweather.com website and entered 42071 for Murray, KY and I see the weather data there.

I have an AT&T stock ROM Fuse and I have an unlimited dataplan with my account.

When I checked the service, before coming to work (now), I had 3 bar service level at home.

Thanks again for your help.

Jim

DavidK, how exactly can I find the Proxy if I “beat the bloat”, because I’m getting the connection error too. Or because I beat the bloat is the proxy already disabled?

@Jim Taylor,

I was able to load Murray, KY and it seemed to work…
