GSen Now Enabled in More Apps

gsen2 Just yesterday I posted an updated cab to enable the gsen to work with the calculator and HTC Albums based on the TP2 ROM. And I know there are third party apps out there (Gsen and Gyrator for started) but if you want a quick and easy solution without any third party apps then this simple cab will allow you to enabled the HTC Gensor in almost all applications. I’ve tested it in the calendar, email, SMS, applications list, media player and internet explorer but that’s not even close to the amount of apps that are active. Here’s a list of applications that it was written for (not all have been tested yet but allt hat I’ve tested have worked:) )

Active Sync, Adobe Reader, Album, Calculator, Calendar, Call History, Camera, Contacts, Communications Manager, Excel Mobile, File Explorer, GoogleMapsMobile, GSPLAYER, CoPilot, PaPaGo, Phone/Lock/Compose/Pictures, Pictures-Thumbnails, Internet Explorer, TouchFlo 3D/Manila [NOTE], MP3 Trimmer, Notes, Opera, Outlook Email, Programs, Resco Explorer, Sprint Navigation, Sprint TV, Streaming Media Player", Teeter", Today Screen, TomTom, Windows Live Messenger, Windows Media Player, Word Mobile, Word Mobile 2, Pocket Word, YouTube

Oh, so how do you delete an application? Just go to HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\WhiteList with a registry editor and remove the string.

A soft reset IS required to enable the gsen changes.

By the way, if you’re patient and you want to wait a few minutes I think Herg has a few more goodies to add to this list:)

This list comes from JMZTaylor from PPCGeeks whom we are thankful for once again. Great work. I’m a fan of this method since it is so simple to add or remove applications.

UPDATE: as hope, Herg has added a few more applications and provided a consolidated cab so a single install will make all of the tweaks and it removes TF3D (since it does not work as desired). The new applications include: Footprints, RSSHub, PowerPoint Mobile, ICR (In Call Recording), FM Radio, World Card Reader, Audio Booster, JBed, Windows Live Search, Pocket Rar, Sim Manager, Task, Total Commander, Windows Live, Zip,  Internet Sharing and JetCet Print. The consolidated cab is located here. Again, a big thanks to Herg and of course – great team work to both Herg and JMZTaylor.

This is nice, I know have no reason to use the iPhone

anyone try this on 6.5 yet?

Confident enough to hack the registry and you want to add more apps but not sure what kind of reg keys to make? Just copy them with Total Commander.

This example enables the Gsensor for Skyfire. Using Total Commander, navigate to
HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\ModuleName
and select any on the current entries. Select File > Copy. In the Copy window, change the 1st asterisk in the name to the name of the app you want to enable the gsensor:
\\\registry\HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\ModuleName\Skyfire.*
Select Copy.
Find the new Skyfire “file” you just created. Select it and view the Properties. Edit the properties so it has the path of the executable:
\Program Files\Skyfire\Skyfire.exe
Now navigate to HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\Whitelist and select any on the current entries. Select File > Copy. In the Copy window, change the 1st asterisk in the name to the name of the app you want to enable the gsensor:
\\\registry\HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\Whitelist\Skyfire.*
Select Copy.
Find the new Skyfire “file” you just created. Select it and view the Properties. Edit the properties. For the most part, it looks like you just need the app name, but some of the existing values don’t seem to match so I’m not 100% sure. Anyway, it seems the App name is safe, and it works fine in this case:
Skyfire

Save, exit, and Soft Reset. The Gsensor should now work with Skyfire. At least it does for me :)

Installed on HTC FUZE and noticed that it drains my battery crazy- anyone else?

i haven’t noticed any drain but I will keep an eye on it. Polling is set to 200 which is often but necessary but all gsen apps poll that frequently.

How do I enable Garmin Mobile XT in the Gsen app?

Module Name:
Garmin Mobile XT \Garmin\Que.exe

WhiteList:
Garmin Mobile XT QUE_SUBAPP_WND_CLASS
from DHarvey

Anyone figure out how to enable this for File Explorer Extentions 2.05? It was working for the old File Explorer before I installed the Extentions. Since the executable seems to be the same, perhaps I need a new Whitelist entry?

Weird, I can’t even see the registry of HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\Whitelist at all no matter from TC or from Remote registry editor.
I didn’t install the cab posted here, is that key created by the cab file?

yes- the cab creates those registry values

I hate to be daft, but can someone explain to me what exactly this app does? It enables apps to run in landscape? I’ve installed it, but unsure of what it does.

Weather doesn’t appear to be on the list. Can it be added?

And what apps would I not want it enabled?

Thanks.

follow up:

Okay, so if I understand correctly, GSensor enables all of the noted programs to shift from Portrait to Landscape. Is that right?

But should this work without having to open the keyboard? Having installed it, it doesn’t seem to work unless I open the keyboard?

Please advise.

Thanks.

it should work by merely rotating the screen with no keyboard action required. Try a soft reset.

No go. Other ideas.

I need a bit of help guys.
Installed, did a soft reset, tested and it works…but, I didn’t want the phone function to rotate, as it was bugging me while on a call with a bluetooth earpiece on. Every time I moved the phone, it went all wonky. So I removed the phone from the list. Now when I scroll over the my pictures from the TF3D and select the pictures to swipe through, it doesn’t rotate at all. The menu bar that pops up when you want out of that app does in face rotate, but not the actual picture(s) themselves.
Please help me fix this somehow. Rotate worked on the pix before the install.

Thanks,
~X

PS. Uninstalled. Things are back to normal.
I really wish that this was more precise in the options.
Maybe someone can work the bugs out. Until then I’m gonna have to leave if off of my Fuze. :(

I installed this recently, and it works well, but I have just a few issues, if anyone can help me…
1. Can I remove the Phone ‘call screen’ ONLY from that particular registry thread? I see where some had problems with other parts by deleting that whole thread…
2. I installed Diamond Hologram after this app, and if I tilt it too far sideways, even a little bit too far, it tries to turn the whole program into landscape, and messes up. I tried to remove it from the program list using the method indicated here, but that program is not listed. I also have this exact problem with the GClippers app…neither one shows up in the white list, or in the Gsen Config app. Can anyone help?

[...] Whitelist-Prinzip, k

has anyone found a method of removing the phone call screen only from gsen? xda advice on this specific issue seems limited/hard to find. Using G-config, it seems you can remove “Phone/lock/compose/something else” from auto-rotating but not “phone” only.

Andy – it is by type unfortunately so you can remove that string but as you know it’s over-inclusive.

Hi there,

what do I have to insert in the whitelist if I only want to write text messages in landscape mode?

“SMS”=”tmail” does not work…

No idea?
