Clean Your Fuze
By now you’re trying to figure out how you ate and drank so much in such a short period of time and you’re looking to accomplish something…not a big something cause that’s way too ambitious, just a little something. Well here’s a little something – cleaning up Windows. You know when you go into Start – Programs and everything is in the worst order? So when you go there I see AT&T Mall, AT&T Music, Push to Talk and AT&T GPS on the first screen – all applications and folders I have no intentions of using. Then I have another folder called Games & Apps and another one called Tools and these have things I care about in them. Well in about five minutes you can clean this whole thing up so everything is more convenient for you. Just go to File Explorer (Start – Programs – Tools) then within that program go to My Device – Windows (give it a second to load) Start Menu – Programs. You’re now looking at a series of shortcuts to the actual programs (these are not the programs themselves, just links to them so if you delete these the program is still on your Fuze). What I do is go to Menu – New Folder and I make a new folder called Crap and I’m going to move the garbage AT&T decided to put on my phone into there (you can delete it as well since they’re just shortcuts though). So then I go to something I don’t need at all like AT&T Music and I press and hold the stylus and go to cut, then I go into ‘Crap’ and press and hold to paste and it’s that simple. Just go through your folders and reorganize them so your games folder actually has games in it and separate the applications (WorldCard Mobile and WikiMobile shouldn’t be near Teeter). You can rename existing folders as well. Whatever you set up here is exactly what you’ll see when you go to Start – Programs in the future so make it how you like it. This is all up to you and like I said- there’s really no going wrong here. I think the programs main directory should be clean so only the applications you really use are there and the rest of them are in subfolders.
Now once you’re done with that let’s clean up the Start menu itself – you know the guy in the corner that drops down when you hit Start. Go to Start – Settings – Menu and anything that is checked appears in the drop down and anything unchecked is off. It’s that simple.
If you don’t want to sit around and play with the stylus, just install MyMobiler (free) which you do by just downloading and then install it onto your computer itself while your Fuze is connected and then on your computer you can see your Fuze on your monitor and use your keyboard and mouse to speed things up. Good luck – and after this go back to bed!:)

Good luck:) Best thing to do is go back about two weeks to the weekend before the Fuze was released because we really started doing a lot of the tweaks and tips around then…you’re going to have a long few days ahead of you:) It’s a great phone and I keep finding new things it does and I really think this is a big jump from the Tilt. If you have any questions just jump over to the forums and we’ll be there for you:)
Thanks man – I will be on the forums a lot more since I am a big forum guy. The MyMobiler program is fantastic, even though I was able to do most of the same things through the normal explore option, but it is great seeing it on the phone screen also. Thanks
Good tips! First thing I did when I got my Tilt last year, and the first thing I did on the fuze, was manually dump the garbage I will never use…the video/music/games/garbage that
is installed. Could have done a hard reset, stop the bloat, but I was too lazy to manually put everything back in.
P51d007 – same here…if you’re really ambitious you can still go and remove some of the apps that are bloat individually like all of the trial stuff…inf act there’s probably no reason to keep half of those game trials that barely work anyway.
When I installed the call history tab CAB and plug in, it removed the AT&T tab anyway so I don’t see them anymore. I don’t have a memory problem so I will leave them for now, but can remove in the future if needed. Thanks!
ps – I posted a bunch of questions on the forum for this site and hopefully people will see them and respond. Thanks again!
