Bing Mobile Updated
Oohhh pretty:) If you’re looking for the latest version of Bing for your phone just direct your phone’s web browser to m.bing.com/download. First thing you’ll notice is that it tries to figure out your current location. Then finally you’ll get to see the improved (prettier) interface that looks less like Windows Mobile 5:) They’ve improved the interface throughout as well as updating the client to include more relevant searches. I had a problem with it locating me (I think it’s trying to use GPS instead of cell tower information) but otherwise you can feel the improvements to the UI immediately. It’s actually finger friendly and attractive. Oh and I’m always reminded of the speech recognition which isn’t just a neat trick – it’s really useful for hands free use of the device and is really accurate. The turn by turn directions are greatly improved. You can see the map with a transparent overlay on top with the written instructions so you get both the instructions and the map simultaneously. It also looks like news was added and weather is now accessed through a ‘search’ for “weather” and gas prices were lost. Everything feels modern and easier on the eye.

The site can’t detect my phone in Opera 10, but in PIE it works. Which is good if you want to go back to the old version because the site that comes up in Opera 10 downloads the old version.
I had no trouble at all with the download from the mobile site URL that you gave.
Flawless… much more scenic and works well. shows all local restaurants …. ready to go to breakfast.
I went to the link above and download it, but it seems like the old version. I have version 4.6.6169.0. What is the new version?
new version is 5.x
Try using PIE. Matt is having the same problem on a TP2. What device are you using?
If anyone has success installing this on the Verizon TouchPro 2, let me know as it currently tell me my device is not supported when I try to install it.
I really don’t like the extra toolbar and search bar. On my TouchPro in landscape mode there isn’t much space left over for the map.
I think the search bar should hide itself, and the toolbar should be transparent.
My god it feels clunky on my Fuze with latest stock firmware. AND the gas prices function is gone. Kinda wish I hadn’t upgraded. Not that I used it that much.
Using it on a Touch Pro with WinMo 6.1 and its a mess. Does not go full screen so there’s lost space, then the search bar is present on every screen, more lost space, then the bottom “Speak”-keyboard-”Menu” bar is at the bottom. So pretty much there’s no viewing space for the actually application. Downgrading immediately.
There must be something wrong with my phone or the copy I downloaded because it *really sucks* compared to Google Maps and that can’t be given that Microsoft is worth 40% more and has more cash on hand to do this right.
I’m seeing nothing but more lipstick on the pig minus the one thing I liked, gas prices.
I have reverted back to the old version. Hopefully the new ROMs coming out don’t upgrade for the sake of upgrading…

Nice improvement. The “speak” feature is almost like TellMe (without the text messaging). FYI, I didn’t change any of the default settings and Bing found my location (my house, not a cell tower) in less than 2 seconds with me about 10 feet from a window. When I zoomed in with satellite view, my location dot was off by about 150 ft but kept moving around when it refreshed every few seconds.
I don’t really like the wallpaper but after the satellite view it changed to a more pleasant ocean scene so I don’t know yet if it will randomly change with more use.
