I have a very strange problem now too. Anytime I plug in the usb that comes with the charger, it forces my phone to start the tv-out program lately. Even if the other end isn't connected to anything else, i.e. to the wall charger or to my computer. I can't seem to figure out why. I have searched and found no solutions. I guess I have to just get it serviced. It's the Sprint version by the way.

So why then do you think my OEM Travel Charger and Car Charger (they are both embossed with HTC) are using a MiniUSB connector. Actually, the only thing I own with an ExtUSB is the little audio adapter. Even the spare HTC data cable I purchased uses MiniUSB.

I charge my phone at least every night and USB sync a couple times per week, so I would say I have plugged in to the port maybe 600-700 times. Maybe I am just lucky.

You may have a bent pin but I don't think its because you used a MiniUSB cable.

As I am one of those people who think USB uses a really dumb implementation, that's where I would look first. Try plugging you phone into someone elses PC and see if it recognizes a new device. Or try a different USB port or test with a USB hub. I have had printers and other USB connected devices (like PocketPC's) that after working fine for months one day just refused to connect via USB. It usually required me to rebuild my desktop or minimally remove every reference to USB in my registry and start everything all over again. USB ports are supposed to be universal, but they do get stupid pretty often.

Hope you find a solution.

I wonder if this is what caused my Touch Pro usb failure. It worked like a charmed for months...now I can even it sync or recognize by my PC by its OEM cable. I was constantly using many miniUSB cables. It charges- just doesn't sync or can't be use as mass storage. BTW, I have done all tips that most users have given; uncheck advance network, use OEM cables, ICS connect...but maybe some more advice on how to straighten out the pins would be useful...anyway, I caution anyone to use MiniUSB...
