Are You a Nut For Sports?

sportsnut-htc-touch.2 I can’t say I’m a sports nut (I’m pretty tired of touchdown dances, trash talk, and steroids), but the first thing I look at every day is how the Red Sox or the Patriots are doing (please no snarky comments from Yankees or Giants fans!).

But if you are one of those sports crazies who have their house painted in team colors and named your children Kobe, Peyton, and Tiger, or you’re just a regular guy (or gal, all two of you reading this post, one of whom is probably Bitbucket) who likes sports, then there’s a nifty little app called SportsNut from Leesoft and found at freewarepocketpc.

Here’s what it’s all about: SportsNut is a handy tool that consolidates multiple sports sites into one application. With SportsNut keeping up with your favorite team or sport is easy. Through simple menu options you can check the latest news, rankings and scores from popular sites such as ESPN, Fox Sports and Yahoo. Why hassle with typing in website addresses and fumbling through sites looking for the information you need? Let SportsNuts do the work for you. Your friends will be amazed how up to date you are. Note this version is optimized for the HTC Touch and other Touch Screen devices.

doesn’t seem to work with the IE in winmo 6.5

the forward/backward links don’t work

Sorry about that. Perhaps send your comments directly to the developer: pikeonce@yahoo.com.

Its on freewarepocketpc, but its a 30 day trial. After that its $2.95 (hopefully not a subscription). But what the heck, I will try almost anything.

Seems to work fine on my 6.1 device. I guess you select the sports/service you want to view and it goes out via IE to pickup the info. Once you have selected a second feed, you can click the back button to return to your earlier selection. There does not appear to be any settings menu, but you can get play-by-play info for MLB games (similar to GetSportz which ceased operation at the end of July) and can turn off auto-refresh as an option.

Once you exit the app, all your selections are wiped out and you have to start over again.

Not bad, but it may need a few tweaks before I put out the cash. I will play for a couple days then drop the developer a note.

+1 sox and pats :)

I went on strike after the Strike (gah! I can’t even remember the year anymore…) and I haven’t been able to get into baseball again ever since. Okay, the Sox’s run in the series got me excited, but then I dipped back into apathy.

I live in north Florida, so Go Jaguars! (Yes, my DH likes having a sports-loving wife! I’m such a tomboy: tech, movies and sports…)

I just type the sport team into google and it gives me the score :(
